Ten Nights. Ten Unique Experiences.

Durham University's end of year ball series brings together thousands of students across ten consecutive nights, each one built around its own theme. For the organising committee, that meant designing ten completely different atmospheres inside the same venue, on a tight turnaround, with no room for the production to fall short on any single night.

They needed a partner who could be trusted with their vision from the first planning meeting through to the final encore, someone who understood that a multi room venue with live performers and varying technical requirements is not a job for a supplier who only shows up to plug things in.

Wynyard Hall is a venue we partner with regularly, so we already understood the layout, the power infrastructure and the considerations that come with running a multi room event at scale. That relationship with the venue's operations team meant conversations moved fast and nothing was left to guesswork on the night.

Ahead of the series we carried out a full pre site visit, mapping every room that needed to feel immersive and planning how lighting, sound and video would carry each theme through the space. From there we worked as a genuine partner to the organising committee, helping bring their vision for each individual evening to life rather than simply executing a spec sheet.

Feedback and guest engagement across the series came back stronger than in previous years with other suppliers. Each evening felt genuinely distinct, with its own lighting concept and atmosphere, while the whole series still landed comfortably within budget.

Where issues arose from other elements of the wider event, our team stepped in and troubleshooted them, helping the entire evening come together smoothly rather than letting problems reach the guests. For the organising committee, that meant ten nights spent hosting rather than firefighting.

The relationship built across the series was strong enough that Durham University has already secured a contract with us for next year's ball series.
